Super Easy 5 Minute Yogurt Cup Christmas Craft For Kids
As I have said before and if you haven’t heard I enjoy using yogurt cups for a ton of things. I like to save them since they are versatile and come in handy for many small, simple projects.
Here are 5 great reasons why you can use Yogurt Cups
You can remove the ink
They don’t have holes like k- cups and if you do need a hole you can make it where you want
They are easy for children to hold paint and decorate
They are durable and can be used over and over
They can be used for a number of different activities
For these easy yogurt cups Christmas crafts, you will need to do one of two things before you get your children involved. Depending on which craft you decide to do you would need to either 1. remove the ink on the cup see how in the video at the end of this post below. Or 2. spray paint the cup using the colors you desire.

Your Yogurt Cup Christmas Craft
Yogurt cups are easy to spray paint and you can do them in advance for proper drying. You don’t have to use an expensive brand of spray paint since most cover them well. I have also used metallic nail polish on my cups but it takes a bit more time to apply. Once that bit is done you can have your child decorate them in whatever way they wish. By now you know there is always something special about handmade and homemade one-of-a-kind items.
You can make them sleek and beautiful or with the special touch, a child likes to put on their art. The possibilities are endless so go ahead and try some. Here are a few that we made together.
Preparation For Yogurt Cup Christmas Craft
Here is a short list of items you may want to use for your Yogurt Cup Christmas Decorations. I find it very helpful to get those that already have adhesive on them so you don’t have to worry about getting additional adhesives.
Gold, red, or green decorative trim, ribbon, or string
Decorative gems
Decorative letters
Spray paint
Stringed beads
Yogurt cups
3/4’’ Christmas bells (Optional)
Of course, the colors are totally up to you. To remove ink from the yogurt cups check out this post, there is a short video that demonstrates a simple ink removal method that uses household items you may already have.
Certainly, I know you are creative so these two options will be enough to spur you on to making a tree full of yogurt cup decorations with your children. This is also a great activity for preschoolers.
You can even have your child give one as a personalized decoration to a grandmother, aunt, cousin, or friend. And to make it even sweeter flip it over and fill it with some chocolates. Wrap it nicely and give it to a loved one. They would be delighted to eat the chocolates that hang the memorabilia around. It surely won’t be forgotten the little two-in-one treat. So here goes.
Here is a quick video showing the simple steps but it’s broken down below as well.
Yogurt Cup Christmas Decoration Craft # 1
Step 1
Remove the ink from the cups.
Then make a hole in the top center of the yogurt cup using a hot round pointed edge
Step 2
Fold the beaded string in half and thread it through the hole at the top of the cup. Pull to the desired length inside the cup.
Depending on their age they may need help to add the stringed beads through the hole. It can be a bit tricky since you don’t want the hole to be too big that the beads slip right out. For some of mine, I had to go back and make the hole slightly bigger to get the doubled string through the hole.
Step 3
Have your child decorate it using foam stickers, decorative jewels, and other decorations you may choose or have available.
