Hi Friends, I am so delighted you are here. In this post, we’ll take a look at Mary. We will briefly examine the life of this woman of faith. And review 3 powerful lessons we can use to influence and encourage our daughters as they grow.
MARY BLESSED AND HIGHLY FAVOURED LIFE LESSONS FOR GIRLS
Mary the beloved mother of Jesus, who was engaged to Joseph. I am certain that she never knew she would have changed the history of the universe. If Mary, was here today she would say a big “WOW”. Read about her story in the Gospel of Luke.
Mary seemed to have been a simple girl. Living a normal life until Gabriel appeared. The message he shared would change her life forever. We are not sure how her parents reacted, but Mary was honor with the privilege to carry out this task.
Moms the truth is we have no idea what our girls will become. Know for sure though that God has a perfect plan for their lives. Our guidance can certainly help them make meaningful decisions that will not only impact their lives but the lives of others as well.
Let’s look at Mary, and see how her life can assist our daughters and their life.
LIFE LESSONS FROM MARY FOR GIRLS
LIFE LESSON # 1 Purity – Mary Remained Pure
Mary was a virgin at the time the angel Gabriel appeared to her to make the announcement of the Christ child. Back then, unlike now it was the expectation for children to keep themselves pure until marriage. In our world today it’s quite the opposite, though in some cultures this is still a critical rule. It was Mary’s purity that made her a candidate for God’s favor and purpose.
APPLICATION FOR OUR GIRLS FROM MARY’S PURITY
Is purity still important today? And how can we encourage our daughters to remain pure in a world that encourages sexual immorality?
- Let our daughters and sons know that God still values purity. Very often we focus on girls alone when it comes to purity but purity applies to boys also. There is an overwhelming amount of incorrect information related to sexual purity. As parents, it is critical to teach our children about their sexuality and purity. The biblical view. Spend time helping your child understanding how their bodies are God’s temple and He has a plan for their life. Let them know there is a right time for everything. Don’t be afraid to speak to your child about purity. Don’t take this for granted. Inform girls what is right so they will make the best decision that pleases God.
2. Let our children know that choosing to remain pure until marriage honors God As we see with Mary, purity was part of the reason she was chosen for the extra special tasks of carrying the Christ child. Purity brings favor and is precious for marriage. Have your child join a bible-based purity club if there is one at your church.
3. Teach your child to depend on God to help them win the purity battle & fight in prayer for your child’s purity. Be the one to constantly talk to them about their purity, value, and worth. Build their faith in God and let them know how much this will please God. Write a declaration that they will remain pure until marriage and the person God is preparing for them will also remain pure. Teach them this declaration and say it with them.
LIFE LESSON # 2 FAITH – Mary HAD FAITH
Mary had great faith. This young virgin was informed that she would bear the Christ child. We are not sure how long it was before she was filled with the gift. But we do know that she believed the angel immediately. Her fear at that point did not stop her faith. I also believe that it was Mary’s faith that took her through the entire journey.
Mary had Faith her son was the Messiah, she had faith that through the angel God directed Joseph to go away. She had faith that Jesus would die and raise to life again. Her faith lead to all generations being blessed. So what life lessons can we teach our girls from Mary’s faith?

APPLICATION FOR OUR GIRLS FROM MARY’S FAITH
- Teach your daughter what it means to have faith in God. Faith requires believing what can not be seen before it happens. Hebrews 11:1 It can be difficult at times to explain faith so it requires being practical. As your daughter goes through life show how faith in God can be applied to daily life. Examples: – Pray to God for healing when sick, protection from danger, provision, and more. As God answers prayer remind your daughters that it was faith to believe God that made Him respond. Do also let them know that the answers may not always be what they want and that God has the best plan.
2. Let our children know that faith in God will help them through the difficulties in life. As you may know, life brings uncertainty. Some are welcomed, some are unwanted. Without faith in God, persons are more likely to have mental breakdowns, turn to drugs or alcohol for comfort, or even commit suicide. However, when we help our children to understand God is a comforter, helper, and more, they can have faith in God’s promises to take them through. Teach children the promises of God. God through the angel made a promise to Mary when it became difficult to watch her son suffer and die, those promises of Him being the Messiah probably play a great deal in helping her to keep her faith in God. This is the faith we want our daughters to have.
LIFE LESSON # 3
Obedience – Mary Accepted the Will of God For Her Life
If an angel were to appear to you now declaring what seems like an unheard of, unbelievable plan for your life or your child’s life, what would be your response? Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant, may it be to me as you have said.” Luke 1:38
Mary believed what the angel spoke and readily accepted God’s will. She did not say let me go and speak to Joseph or my parents. While they are important and they needed to know, she recognized God’s authority and submitted. Thank God that He is a master planner, so he had already worked out the details with Joseph and everything else that would challenge His plan.
Incredible! What lesson can we parents learn from this role model’s example and how can we encourage our daughters to be obedient to God’s will.
APPLICATION FOR OUR GIRLS FROM MARY’S OBEDIENCE
- Teach our daughters to obey God’s word in their daily lives. We must teach our daughters to practice God’s written word and listen to His word also at church and during times of family worship. Place great emphasis on God’s word let it be the foundation of your child’s life. Along with this, teach your child to memorize God’s word. As you do this when God speaks to them about His will they will be sure and obey His will for their lives.
2. Let your child know she belongs to God. As parents, it is important to remember that our children belong to God, and His plans for them are perfect. We may have a desire to see them do great things. That is awesome, we should. However, we must keep in mind that God is ultimately in charge.
I was reading the book The Anatomy of God recently The author mentioned that she was studying to be a doctor when God called her to attend theological college. This must have been news to her parents but, today her worldwide ministry provides healing to so many that no amount of medical certification could bring. If you want to read this book yourself you can, I have included several links just for you. This is a great testimony of what happens when we allow our children to be obedient and follow God’s will for their lives.
