Click the preferred button below to skip to your choice.  I have included a video along the way as you go through this post showing how simple this Father’s Day craft is. As usual, however, I always like to break the steps down for those who need to take things a bit slower. So let’s get to it Father’s Day is coming!

Father’s Day Wrench Template

Let’s just say you are planning to use this for your class. I would suggest that you make a template using an old cereal box, shoebox or even the back of your construction paper book. I usually collect these when the books are done since they always come in really handy for other crafts. Once you make the template you don’t have to repeat this process over and over again. If you are just making one then this step can be done directly on the material you plan to use. The wrench is perfect for this craft, but you are free to use other tools as well.

Here are the steps for the template.

You will need

A glass

A scissors

A ruler

On the cereal box or flat cardboard, draw a circle on opposite corners of the cardboard.

Using a ruler, draw two parallel lines connecting the circles to each other.

Cut out the template and you are ready to go.

Foam Father’s Day Craft Step by Step

Here’s what you’ll need

3 Sheets foam (colors of your choice)

Regular scissors and patterned scissors

White Glue

Security Zip Tie/Cord/Shoelace

Permanent Markers

Your child’s hand

Step 1 – Drawing Dad’s Tool

On a large sheet of foam,  use the template you created to trace the wrench shape onto the back of the foam. Cut out your shape, and set shape aside.  I chose glittered foam for this part. It gives a really nice look and a bit of dad glam.

On the second piece of foam (half of a sheet)

Draw the hand of your child. Cut out and set aside

On the third piece of foam

Use a glass that is slightly smaller to draw two circles on the foam. Cut one using the regular scissors, also cut out part of the center to make an open end of the wrench. Cut the other one using patterned scissors.

Assemble Your Father’s Day Craft

On tool cut out, stick one circle on either end.

Write the word DAD using a permanent marker, any color of your choice, and punch a hole on the end of the tool with the patterned circle

On the hand, write the phrase –  You are too..lovely too..let go! Place hand as if holding tool, with the thumb to the back and palm to the front of the tool. Add glue to secure.

Add the security tie to hang and you are done!

Variations of This Father's Day Craft

You can attach a magnet to the back of the tool and stick it on your refrigerator or family clipboard.

You can also choose different tools that you want to try instead of a wrench.

Also, instead of the zip ties, you can use a shoelace, rubber band, twine, or cord to hand your tool.
